In a good matchup it was the Washington Nationals 8, the Brooklyn Dodgers 5 at
Griffith Stadium.

Washington brought 5 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning when they had 3
base hits.  The key at-bat was by Ray Boone who brought the crowd to their
feet when he slapped a single plating two runs.  Washington had a total of 12
hits for the game.  

Fritz Dorish(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Dorish
got help from Ernie Johnson who was credited with his 1st save.  Ray
Moore(7-6) suffered the loss.  He couldn't find the plate, issuing 6 walks in
2 and 2/3 innings.
