Brickyard Kennedy completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Brooklyn Grooms topped the Pittsburg Pirates by a score of 6 to 3 at
Exposition Park.
Pittsburg was unable to climb back into it after Brooklyn went ahead for good
in the top of the 2nd inning with 3 runs. Dan Brouthers led off and started
the rally when he drew a walk. Oyster Burns came next and he drew a walk.
After an out was recorded, Gil Hatfield then doubled, and an error was also
committed, driving home two runs. Con Daily stepped in and he would ground
out scoring the final run of the inning. Brooklyn finished with just 6 hits
in the victory.
The victory went to Kennedy(22-16) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Ad
Gumbert(12-5) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 6 runs and 6 hits in 9
innings.
