Kitty Bransfield had 2 base hits as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the

Pittsburgh tallied 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The crucial at-bat
was provided by Jack Gilbert who silenced the crowd when he lashed a single
bringing home two baserunners. Brooklyn had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.

Charlie Case(11-2) got the win allowing 5 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Howie
Camnitz gained credit for his 4th save. Oscar Jones(15-21) was the losing
pitcher. He pitched 9 innings allowing 10 hits and 3 walks.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Case, 'I got burned on a
couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
