Ray Boone rocketed 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Griffith Stadium where the
Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 8 to 3.

Boone enjoyed a fine day at the plate.  He clubbed a solo home run in the 2nd
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning and laced a
single in the 6th inning.  Washington banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.

Warren Spahn(14-19) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Al Corwin(4-3) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed
Washington 6 runs in 3 innings of work.
