Don Liddle allowed Gordy Renaud to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Del Rice had 2 base hits as the Washington Nationals staged a dramatic
comeback over the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 3 to 2 at Griffith
Stadium.

Washington erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 4 base hits.  Rip Repulski got things going when he smacked a
single.  Joe Adcock followed next and he ripped a single.  Rice then doubled
resulting in a run.  Bobby Adams stepped in and he ripped a one-base hit
giving Washington the victory as 2,214 happy fans celebrated wildly.
Washington totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  

Liddle(2-3) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Jim Hughes(7-4) ended
up with the loss in relief.  'Now that is what I call fun! I just love
baseball, especially games like this, of course,' Gordy Renaud offered.
'Everyone at the stadium had a great time - did you see the fans go wild
there at the end?!'
