One run was the difference at Robison Field as the Cincinnati Reds defeated
the St. Louis Cardinals 3 to 2.

Cincinnati won the game with a run in the 9th inning.  Rube Vickers lined a
single.  Mike Donlin came next and he hit a single.  Jake Beckley then hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Cincinnati ended up with 10 hits for the game
while St. Louis had 6.  

The win was credited to Vickers(1-0) who went 8 innings allowing 2 runs. Henry
Thielman preserved the game for Vickers, recording his his 2nd save.  Stan
Yerkes(15-20) took the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 10 hits
and 5 walks.
