One run was the difference at Palace Of The Fans as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the New York Giants in 11 innings 5 to 4.
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Cincinnati won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. Larry McLean reached on an error. Hans
Lobert came next and he tripled giving Cincinnati the win and sending the
home town fans into a frenzy. Cincinnati had 11 hits for the afternoon.
Andy Coakley(13-17) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings.
Christy Mathewson(19-11) was the loser. He gave up 5 runs and 11 hits in 10
