Stan Musial had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated
the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings 7 to 6 at Shibe Park.
Both teams had scored 5 runs after nine full innings. Philadelphia ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. Earl Torgeson started the inning off right
when he drew a walk. After another out, Gus Niarhos struck out, unable to
help the rally. Musial then doubled scoring a run. Vic Wertz came up and he
drew a walk. Sherm Lollar stepped into the box and lined a base-hit making
Philadelphia the winners and sending the 3,884 fans home happy. Despite
losing, Cincinnati out-hit Philadelphia 13 to 10.
Murry Dickson(12-8) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Monty
Kennedy(6-12) was tagged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.
