Joe Dimaggio ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Red Munger was able to finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game as the smoking-hot
Washington Nationals really laid it on the New York Yankees 14 to
2.

Dimaggio had a big day against New York. He lost the ball over the fence for
three runs in the 7th inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 9th inning.
Washington banged out 16 hits on the afternoon.

Munger(7-4) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. The loss was charged
to Ted Gray(6-7). He was knocked around by Washington, allowing 11 hits and
4 walks in 7 innings.

Washington remained hot, improving their record to 72-64. They now have a
record of 9-1 in recent days. New York can't seem to snap out of their
recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple
weeks.
