WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Roy Campanella blocked the plate, saving a run!

One run was the difference at Griffith Stadium as the Washington Nationals
were certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their 6 game losing streak was
finally halted and defeated the Philadelphia-AL Athletics in 16 innings 2 to
1.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Washington
pulled the game out in the 16th inning. Dom Dimaggio drew a walk. Two outs
later Murry Dickson stepped in and he drew a walk. Joe Garagiola then
delivered a one-base hit making Washington victorious to the delight of the
the home town crowd. For the game Washington out-hit Philadelphia-AL 13 to
8.

Dickson(8-15) got credit for the victory, pitching 4 and 1/3 innings and
