7 to 3 at Cleveland Stadium.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Chicago-NL
pulled the game out in the 11th inning. The biggest moment was provided by
Eddie Mathews who quieted the crowd when he launched a rocket-shot out of the
park for a Grand Slam homerun. Chicago-NL had 8 hits for the afternoon.
The win went to Sid Hudson(9-5) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Hoyt
Wilhelm(10-12) absorbed the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 4 runs in 3 innings.
