The Brooklyn Dodgers offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning
and edged the Washington Nationals at Griffith Stadium by the score of 8 to
7.

The game was won by Brooklyn with a run in the top of the 9th inning. Dee
Fondy drew a walk.  Gus Zernial got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes.  Roy McMillan then lined a single.  Jim Hegan came up
and he worked the squeeze play to perfection scoring the run.  Brooklyn
finished with 11 hits in the victory.  

Luis Arroyo(8-7) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the win. Tom Morgan was
credited with his 2nd save.  Pedro Ramos(1-3) took the loss in relief.  He
pitched 1 inning allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.
