Pop Schriver smacked 2 triples as the Chicago Colts came back to win one over
Cincinnati Reds, 8 to 7.

Chicago scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 4 base
hits. Walt Wilmot led off and keyed the rally when he hit a single.
Schriver followed and he drew a walk. Jimmy Ryan then grounded into a double
play. Ad Gumbert came up and he tripled resulting in a run. Bill Dahlen
came up to bat and stroked a one-base hit driving in one more runner. Dahlen
took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Cap Anson stepped up to
the plate and he was walked intentionally. Cliff Carroll then delivered a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago ended up with 14 hits
for the game while Cincinnati had 10.

Tom Vickery(3-4) allowed 7 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Vickery got relief help from Bill Hutchison who gained credit for his 1st
save. Billy Rhines(18-19) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 14 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

Tom Loftus was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss.
He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse,
yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose.
Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us
this afternoon'
