One run was the difference at Baker Bowl as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 2.

Cincinnati came up with 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Philadelphia had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short.

Chick Fraser(14-12) allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Bob Wicker recorded his 1st save. Lew Richie(12-12) was the loser.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Ned Hanlon said after the game. 'Fraser did not have command of
his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
