separated the combatants at game's end. The Boston Doves won by the slimmest
of margins, 3 to 2.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Boston came out the victor in the 14th
inning. Lefty Tyler doubled. Bill Collins followed next and he laced a
base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Boston and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Boston out-hit Cincinnati for the game,
14 hits to 6.
Tyler(1-0) went 8 innings allowing no runs for the win. Bill Burns(7-14) took
the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 3 hits in 1 inning.
