Left fielder Pete Browning hit a grand slam and Guy Hecker completed the game
without help from the bullpen at Eclipse Park as the Louisville Colonels
staged a comeback win over the Philadelphia Athletics by the count of 11 to
10.

Louisville had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning when
they scored 4 runs on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Browning
who made the crowd happy when he electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home
run. Philadelphia scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching
kept them from victory.

Hecker(10-10) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 10 runs. Mike
Mattimore(10-11) was charged with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 11 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Mordecai Davidson was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard
fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did
you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this
afternoon!'
