Christy Mathewson had a complete game and right fielder Joe McGinnity had 3
base hits and 2 RBI at Polo Grounds as the New York Giants beat the Boston
Beaneaters 5 to 3.

New York started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first plating 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  George Browne led off and
keyed the rally when he laced a base-hit.  Browne took his lead and swiped
second.  Two outs later Steve Brodie stepped in and he lashed a single, and
an error was also committed, scoring a single run.  McGinnity was up next and
he stroked a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning.  New York
managed 9 hits in their victory.  

Mathewson(13-15) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Togie
Pittinger(20-20) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.
