Ernie Shore had a strong outing as the spectacular Boston Red Sox beat the
Cleveland Indians by a score of 2 to 0.
Boston drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Harry Hooper drew a walk.
After an out was recorded, Tris Speaker came to the plate and slapped a
base-hit. One out later, Duffy Lewis then ripped a one-base hit scoring the
run. That was all Shore(18-7) needed. Boston had only 5 hits for the game.
Lynn Brenton(5-3) took the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 2
walks. 'Shore pitched a gem of a game', Lee Fohl recounted. 'He kept our
batters off balance the entire game.'
