Larry McKeon had a complete game as the Cincinnati Red Stockings defeated the
New York Metropolitans by a score of 9 to 6 at Polo Diamond Grounds.

In the top of the 7th inning Cincinnati scored 5 runs when they had 5 base
hits.  The key at-bat was by Frank Fennelly who deflated the spirits of the
home town crowd when he tripled scoring two baserunners.  Both teams ended up
with 10 hits on the afternoon.  

McKeon(20-10) lasted until the end allowing 6 runs for the win. Jack
Lynch(17-21) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 9 runs and 10 hits in 9
innings.
