Reb Russell tossed a shutout and center fielder Jack Fournier had 4 hits and 4
RBI as the Chicago White Sox ballclub embarrassed the floundering
Philadelphia Athletics by the count of 13 to 0.
Fournier led the offense for Chicago. He lined a base-hit knocking in a run
in the 1st inning, doubled which plated a run in the 3rd inning, doubled
which brought home a run in the 4th inning and doubled resulting in a run in
the 5th inning. Chicago provided plenty of action in the 4th inning which
saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 4
runs on 5 hits. Chicago dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Russell(14-7). Tink Turner(0-1) was
tagged with the loss. He allowed Chicago 11 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.
It was another victory for Chicago at Shibe Park. Now their winning streak
