Second baseman Lou Bierbauer had 3 base hits as the Philadelphia Athletics
beat the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 12 innings by a score of 5 to 4.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally,
Philadelphia pulled the game out in the 12th inning.  Bierbauer banged out a
single, and an error was also committed.  After an out was recorded, Jocko
Milligan came to the plate and laced a single scoring the run.  Philadelphia
finished with 12 hits in the victory.  

The win was credited to Bill Hart(11-7) who went 11 innings allowing 4 runs.
Hart was helped out by John Coleman who recorded his 1st save.  Pud
Galvin(27-15) was charged with the loss.
