The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Finally, St. Louis pulled the game out in the 11th inning. Otto Krueger led off the inning for St. Louis when he slapped a base-hit. John McGraw followed next and he drew a walk. Jesse Burkett then delivered a single to load the bases. Heidrick followed and he laced a one-base hit plating two runs. Heidrick stole second with some aggressive base running. Patsy Donovan joined his teammates in the uprising and stroked a base-hit giving St. Louis the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. St. Louis provided plenty of action in the 4th inning with 3 runs on 4 hits and the 11th inning which saw them score 3 runs on 4 hits. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.
