TEAM RISP- Athletics: 1 for 2 Browns: 20 for 33

First baseman Ed Cartwright had 7 hits and 7 RBI and Joe Neale completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the St. Louis Browns smashed the
overmatched struggling Philadelphia Athletics, 30 to 2.

Cartwright was a one-man wrecking crew. He slapped a single resulting in a
run in the 1st inning, ripped a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 2nd
inning, slapped a one-base hit bringing in a run in the 4th inning, banged
out a single in the 4th inning, slapped a base-hit which was good for two
runs in the 5th inning, blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning and stroked a
one-base hit in the 8th inning. St. Louis lit up the scoreboard in the 4th
inning which saw them score 11 runs on 7 hits and the 5th inning with 7 runs
on 7 hits. The St. Louis offense was as consistent as it was powerful. They
scored in every inning, making a joke of the Philadelphia pitching.

The victory went to Neale(5-2) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Ed
O'Neil(2-4) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 31 hits and 6
walks in 8 innings.

'I felt great out there today' Cartwright said. 'I was seeing the ball
perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.
