Mark Baldwin went the distance at South Side Park as the Chicago Pirates beat
the Philadelphia Athletics 6 to 2.

Chicago took the lead for good in the 4th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 base
hits. Jimmy Ryan got things going when he delivered a one-base hit. After
an out was recorded, Bill Husted then fired a sharp breaking ball that
appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by him and was ruled
a passed ball. Fred Pfeffer then doubled which scored a run. Jack Boyle
came up and he drew a walk. After another out, Ned Williamson came to the
plate and ripped a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago
banged out 11 hits on the afternoon.

Baldwin(27-23) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs.
Husted(6-7) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits
and 3 walks in 8 innings.
