Cincinnati Reds beat the dreadful St. Louis Cardinals 9 to 4.

in 8 and 1/3 innings.  Cincinnati finished with 17 hits while St. Louis ended
up with 12.  

Jim Hackett(1-1) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good, giving
