Heinie Berger went 9 strong innings as the Cleveland Naps defeated the New
York Highlanders 3 to 1 at Hilltop Park.

Berger(7-2) dominated New York hitters. He gave up just 5 hits and no walks
in 9 innings. New York was set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.

Jack Chesbro(11-11) was tagged with the loss. When questioned about his
counterpart after the game, Chesbro was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious
very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Berger brought
his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.
He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
