Cleveland came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Doc Johnston opened up the inning nicely when he doubled. Ray Chapman stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an error. Chapman was safe at second on a stolen base. Turner followed and he ripped a base-hit giving Cleveland the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the afternoon. The victory was credited to Bill Steen(13-9) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. George Boehler(0-3) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 10 hits in 8 innings. 'What a game!,' Steen said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'
