Chief Meyers had 2 base hits as the New York Giants defeated the Brooklyn
Superbas in 12 innings by a score of 4 to 2 at Ebbets Field.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. New York won the hard fought
contest in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Art Fletcher began
the rally when he reached on an error. George Burns came to the plate and
doubled. Tillie Shafer then doubled knocking home two runners. New York had
a total of 9 hits for the game.
Doc Crandall(3-5) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Bull
Wagner(6-6) was charged with the loss in relief. Wth the win New York now
has a record of 78-65. With the loss, the Brooklyn ballclub's record is
70-73.
