TEAM RISP- Red Sox: 5 for 15 Browns: 4 for 15

Del Gainer lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI and Smoky Joe Wood
went the distance as the streaking Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis
Browns by the score of 10 to 8 at Sportsman'S Park.

Boston had the game winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs using 2
hits. After two outs Duffy Lewis initiated the scoring spurt when he slapped
a one-base hit. Walt Leverenz then let a pitch get away from him. Dick
Hoblitzell then was walked intentionally. Gainer was up next and he doubled
scoring two teammates. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home
town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Wood(6-5) finished the game allowing 8 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Leverenz(3-9). By surrending 10 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings his ERA
jumped from 3.32 to 3.82.

Boston continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this
stretch.
