Eddie Plank retired 11 batters on strikeouts as the St. Louis Terriers topped
the Buffalo Blues by a score of 6 to 1 at Handlan's Park.
Plank(20-11) escaped virtually unscathed against the Buffalo hitters. He was
stingy on the mound, allowing just 7 hits and no walks in 9 innings. St.
Louis finished with 12 hits in the victory.
Hugh Bedient(12-15) took the loss. He was touched for 12 hits and 3 walks in
8 innings. Fielder Jones was asked about the performance of Plank, 'He had
his good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when
the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
