Pat Luby completed the game without help from the bullpen at West Side Park as
the Chicago Colts pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Boston
Beaneaters by the count of 6 to 4.

Chicago erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they tallied
4 runs on 3 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Howard Earl who excited
the crowd when he blasted a two-run home run. Boston had 11 hits in the game
while Chicago had 7, but Chicago had the more timely hits.

The win was credited to Luby(17-12) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.
Pretzels Getzien(14-24) suffered the loss. 'I always am most impressed when
a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Cap Anson said
after the game. 'Luby did not have command of his pitches most of the
afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
