Bobby Mathews went the distance and center fielder Bill Crowley hit 3 doubles
and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Stockings defeated the Cleveland Blues 7 to 5
at South End Grounds.
Cleveland was unable to recover after Boston went ahead in the bottom of the
2nd inning plating an isolated run on 2 hits. Boston rapped out 10 hits for
the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Mathews(5-11) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. George Bradley(1-3) ended up with the loss.
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Mathews said.
