TEAM RISP- White Sox: 6 for 14 Browns: 15 for 29

Jesse Burkett had 5 hits and 4 RBI as the Chicago White Sox were badly beaten
by the St. Louis Browns, 22 to 8.

The St. Louis fans enjoyed the offense provided by Burkett. He doubled in the
1st inning, slapped a base-hit in the 2nd inning, stroked a single resulting
in a run in the 3rd inning, hit a one-base hit which plated a run in the 5th
inning and laced a base-hit plating two runs in the 8th inning. St. Louis
kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning which saw them score 5 runs on 5
hits, the 2nd inning with 5 runs on 6 hits and the 3rd inning when they had 5
runs on 6 hits. Offensively, St. Louis was a juggernaut. They scored in 6
separate innings.

Bobby Wallace(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Charlie Shields got the save, his 1st. Frank Isbell(0-1)
absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the St. Louis offense and
allowed 26 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.
