Center fielder Tommy Leach had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Deacon Phillippe went
the distance at Exposition Park where the mighty Pittsburgh Pirates beat the
woeful Brooklyn Superbas by the score of 11 to 2.

Pittsburgh promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they came up
with 2 runs on 3 hits.  Pittsburgh kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

The victory went to Phillippe(26-8) who went the distance allowing 2 runs.
Elmer Stricklett(8-15) was given the loss.  He was knocked around by
Pittsburgh, allowing 13 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
