Barney Wolfe tossed a complete game and left fielder Frank Huelsman had 2 base
hits as the Washington Nationals won in dramatic fashion over the St. Louis
Browns by a score of 4 to 3 at American League Park.

Washington came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 4 hits. Huelsman started the inning off right when he lined a
base-hit. Jake Stahl stepped up next and he laced a single. Rabbit Nill
then smacked a single driving in a run. Nill took second on the throw. Joe
Stanley came up and he lined a one-base hit giving Washington the victory and
sending the 634 home-town fans home happy. Washington and St. Louis each
finished the afternoon with 8 hits.

Wolfe(10-11), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Fred
Glade(10-19) ended up with the loss. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance
for you,' Huelsman noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great
to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
