Bob Ewing had a complete game and center fielder Homer Smoot had 4 hits and 4
RBI as the Cincinnati Reds topped the struggling Boston Beaneaters by a score
of 13 to 5 at South End Grounds.

Smoot had a big day against Boston.  He doubled which plated a run in the 1st
inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 7th inning, smacked a single plating
a run in the 8th inning and doubled resulting in a run in the 9th inning.
Cincinnati dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.

The victory was credited to Ewing(17-12) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. Gus Dorner(6-27) absorbed the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 13 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
