One run was the difference at South End Grounds as the Boston Doves defeated
the slumping Brooklyn Superbas in 18 innings 3 to 2.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Boston won it in the
18th inning.  After an out was recorded, Fred Stem laced a one-base hit.
Bill Sweeney followed next and he ripped a base-knock.  After another out,
Jack Hannifin then banged out a single making Boston the winners and sending
the 2,116 fans home happy.  Boston had 15 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Gus Dorner(11-18) who allowed no runs in 9 innings. Nap
Rucker(15-18) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 15 hits and 3 walks in
17 and 2/3 innings.
