Porter(1-1) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Washington offense. He didn't give up much, just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Porter whiffed an impressive total of 14 Washington batters lowering his ERA to 2.00. The right-handed Porter had his no-hit bid broken up by Henry Moore who singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Milwaukee totaled 11 hits on the afternoon. Charlie Geggus(8-7) was charged with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Porter - except Washington. Mike Scanlon lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
