Bill Joyce blasted 2 homeruns and Varney Anderson pitched a complete game at
Robison Field as the Washington Senators came back dramatically to top the
St. Louis Browns by the score of 10 to 8.

Washington came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they tallied
5 runs on 5 hits. St. Louis proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the
9th.

Anderson(2-1) finished the game allowing 8 runs in the victory. The losing
pitcher was Pink Hawley(18-22). He got hammered, allowing 12 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings.

Gus Schmelz was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at
bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there?
You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what
makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over
'til its over.'
