Elmer Stricklett completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Brooklyn Superbas defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 2 at Washington
Park.

In the 6th inning Brooklyn went on top for good scoring one runner. Billy
Maloney reached on an error.  Maloney stole second with some aggressive base
running.  Harry Lumley followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Tim Jordan
was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Jack McCarthy came up to
bat and was walked intentionally.  John Hummel added to the outburst and
delivered a base-hit scoring the run.  Pittsburgh had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.  

The victory went to Stricklett(14-17) who went the distance allowing 2 runs.
Vic Willis(19-16) was the loser.  He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.
