Ed Konetchy had 2 base hits and Frank Allen went the distance as the powerful
Pittsburgh Rebels bested the Chicago Whales in 10 innings 5 to 4 at
Exposition Park.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Pittsburgh won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning.  Marty Berghammer laced a base-knock.
Al Wickland next to the plate and he slapped a one-base hit.  Rebel Oakes
then hit a single to load the bases.  Claude Hendrix then bounced one in the
dirt for a wild pitch making Pittsburgh victorious to the delight of the the
home town crowd.  Pittsburgh and Chicago each finished the afternoon with 12
hits.  

Allen(20-10), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory.
Hendrix(17-12) was given the loss in relief.  He allowed 3 hits and no walks
in 1 inning.
