Al Wickland next to the plate and he slapped a one-base hit. Rebel Oakes then hit a single to load the bases. Claude Hendrix then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch making Pittsburgh victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Pittsburgh and Chicago each finished the afternoon with 12 hits.
