Herman Long blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Kid Nichols allowed Frank
Selee to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at South End Grounds as
the indomitable Boston Beaneaters beat the New York Giants 10 to 2.

The Boston fans enjoyed the offense provided by Long.  He ripped a solo home
run in the 3rd inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 8th
inning.  Boston finished with 12 hits in the victory.  

The winning pitcher was Nichols(33-14) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Roscoe
Coughlin(3-3) absorbed the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.
