Neither team scored in the first nine innings. Chicago came out on top in the 11th inning. George Davis started the inning off right when he delivered a one-base hit. Jimmy Callahan stepped up to the plate and he lashed a single. Jiggs Donahue then doubled which was good for two runs. Chicago had 8 hits for the afternoon. It was the 6th shutout of the year for Owen(24-8). Eddie Plank(24-13) was the losing pitcher. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Plank was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Owen brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
