Vic Willis threw a complete game shutout at Forbes Field as the seemingly
unstoppable Pittsburgh Pirates beat the struggling New York Giants in 10
innings 1 to 0.
The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings.
Pittsburgh won it in the 10th inning. Bill Abstein tripled. Chief Wilson
followed next and he lined a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for
Pittsburgh and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Despite
losing, New York out-hit Pittsburgh 10 to 6.
For Willis(21-10) it was his 4th shutout this year. Al Klawitter(1-1) was the
loser. He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks.
