Red Donahue pitched a complete game at Polo Grounds as the Philadelphia
Phillies beat the slumping New York Giants 4 to 2.

Philadelphia brought 2 runs across the plate in the 6th inning. After an out
was recorded, Monte Cross initiated the scoring spurt when he laced a single.
Donahue was next and he reached on an error. Bill Carrick then fired a
sharp breaking ball that appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it
got by him and was ruled a passed ball which brought home a run. Roy Thomas
was up next and he lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning.
Philadelphia had 10 hits for the afternoon.

Donahue(20-6) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Carrick(16-21)
was the loser. He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 4
walks.

The winning ways continue for Philadelphia. They now have a record of 9-1 in
recent days. New York can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now
they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.
