Harry Wright had 5 hits and Al Spalding pitched a complete game as the
indomitable Boston Red Stockings outscored the Philadelphia W Whites 17 to
10.

Boston went ahead for good in the top of the 5th inning plating an isolated
run on 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Harry Schafer stroked a
single.  Wright followed next and he banged out a single, and an error was
also committed.  George Wright then hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Boston
lit up the scoreboard in the 8th inning with 6 runs on 4 hits.  The Boston
offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.  

Spalding(33-9) got the victory, allowing 10 runs for the game. George
Zettlein(22-25) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 17
runs in 9 innings.  

The winning ways continue for Boston.  They now have a record of 9-1 in recent
days.  With this loss, Philadelphia W has a 3-7 record of late, 22-27
overall.
