Ice Box Chamberlain completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Cincinnati Reds defeated the pitiful St. Louis Browns 7 to 6 at League
Park.

Chamberlain(25-17) gave a fine effort for Cincinnati.  He went 9 innings
allowing 8 hits and 4 walks.  St. Louis tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.  

Bob Caruthers(0-9) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around by Cincinnati,
allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  Jack Crooks was in a sour mood
after the game.  'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this
game. We made too many mistakes.'
