Shortstop Frank Shugart rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Jack Taylor was
able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Polo
Grounds as the Philadelphia Phillies won in dramatic fashion coming back to
beat the New York Giants by the count of 12 to 10.

Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 6
runners on 7 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Shugart who deflated
the mood of the partisan fans when he lofted a three-run bomb. This was a
game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing
- 5 times in all.

Taylor(15-19) lasted until the end allowing 10 runs for the win. Cy
Seymour(15-16) suffered the loss in relief. Bill Joyce was not very
talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood for questions,
but I'm sure George Stallings will be glad to talk about the game as long as
you have questions to ask.'
