Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 6 runners on 7 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Shugart who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he lofted a three-run bomb. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all. Taylor(15-19) lasted until the end allowing 10 runs for the win. Cy Seymour(15-16) suffered the loss in relief. Bill Joyce was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure George Stallings will be glad to talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
