St. Louis started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first plating an isolated run. Tommy Dowd reached on an error. Jake Stenzel stepped up next and he reached on an error. Cross then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run. St. Louis had 15 hits for the afternoon. Hughey(13-16) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Ted Breitenstein(15-17) was given the loss. He was knocked around by St. Louis, allowing 14 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Breitenstein was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Hughey brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
