In a good matchup it was the Philadelphia Phillies 5, the pitiful Cincinnati
Reds 2 in 10 innings at League Park.

The score was tied at 2 after nine. Philadelphia won the hard fought contest
in the 10th inning.  Elmer Flick got things going when he lined a one-base
hit.  Ed Delahanty was next and he doubled resulting in a run.  Klondike
Douglass then lashed a single.  Douglass swiped second base.  Two outs later
Monte Cross came to bat and slapped a single which was good for two more
runs.  Overall Philadelphia out-hit Cincinnati 12 to 9.  

The win was credited to Bill Duggleby(22-14) who went 1 and 1/3 innings
allowing no runs. Bill Phillips(9-25) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered
5 runs and 11 hits in 9 innings.
